93 Years Young and Chasing Sunrises!
Meet Gretel, 93, a lifelong Kirribilli local born just weeks before the Sydney Harbour Bridge opened in 1932.
After watching our sunrise tours from the shore many mornings, Gretel often wondered, “I’d love to do that… but can I?”
Our answer was simple: absolutely.
We took the time to understand what would help Gretel feel comfortable and confident, pairing her with her son in one of our stable double kayaks. Double kayaks are a wonderful accessibility option, offering added stability, shared paddling support and the reassurance of experiencing the water together.
Her secret to staying adventurous at 93? Keep moving. Gretel continues to exercise to maintain her mobility—and she loved every minute of her sunrise paddle.
For us, this is what accessible tourism is all about: listening to each guest, providing the right equipment and support, and helping “Can I?” become “Yes, you can.”
93 years young—and still chasing sunrises.
